Martha's Vineyard - Road trip USA part 1

After 4 hours of driving from NY we arrived in Cape Cod- Massachusetts.
Land of the Kennedy holiday home and where the fictional show Dawsons Creek was meant to be set. (Ever since I saw Joey and Dawson sitting on the end of a wooden pier I wanted to visit this magical place!) ...
We booked a lovely hotel down in Falmouth (Inn on the sound), close enough to be only a 30 minute drive to the ferry port.
The ferry from woods hole to Martha's Vineyard takes 40 minutes and cost $8 each way per person.
You don't need to take a car as the bus system is pretty good and only costs $7 for an all day bus pass.
We visited the beautiful gingerbread cottages in Oak bluffs (I now WANT one!) and the famous whaling town of Edgartown (also famous for being the fictional town of Amnity in the movie Jaws!!) we stayed for a day and fell in love with the place. I now know where I want to end up.
Question, Can I retire at 32?

Here's a few pics which I wanted to share....

Claudie pierlot goes cat mad

Ever wanted to combine your love of fashion and cats, without looking like some crazy cat lady (Yes please!!). Well some clever folk at claudie pierlot have launched the cutest range under the claudie vivetta sub brand.
I couldn't resist the white furry tongued hightops.

Dreamy palettes - AW14

Today I hit the shops of Knightsbridge - london, checking out the likes of Harvey Nichols and harrods.
Two collections which caught my eye with these dreamy palettes were Pinko and Maje. Marshmallow pink cashmere turtle neck sweaters, drawn finish lavender wool mid length coats, and baby boy blue silk shirts, all underpinned with a bit of grey melange and a hint of black.... All dreamy gorgeousness.

Mrs Clooney

Amal Alamuddin steps out the day after marrying Hollywood royality George Clooney, and what a perfect outfit choice but to wear a lace and 3D blossom structured prom from Giambattisa Valli's Spring 2014 couture collection.
If she looks this good the day after the wedding, I can't wait to see who/ what she wore for her actual wedding gown. Kim and Kate step aside I think we have a new style icon emerging.

House of dreams

Today my partner and I are celebrating 3 years, and 3 months since we bought our first house.
We knew from the start it needed a lot of work (It was over 100 years old with the original roof), but after all new windows, a new kitchen, a new bathroom, new walls, new garden and finally a new roof it's completely finished and is the house of dreams.

CARVED COLOUR SS15

With the Matisse exhibition in full swing at the Tate Modern, its no surprise designers are feeling inspired by his trade-mark 'carved colour' and 'paper cut outs' which made him famous.
Designers  such as Peter Pilotto, Roksanda, Adeam, and Jasper Conran featured spliced prints and abstract blocking on silk jersey dresses, while Stacey Bendet for Alice and Olivia just went plain obvious and paid Homage to the man himself with a 'Blue Nude' inspired placement print on a structured mid length prom.

Evil beauty

I have settled into the 'less is more' approach to shopping, and this necklace probably set that off for me. Purchased from Mawi about 3 years ago when my skull obsession was at its peak, I adored it and had to have it in my jewellery collection. I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste but I just love the juxtaposition of it; faceted blue jewells off set with the creppy grinning silver skulls on a hard chunky gold chain. An absolute beauty in my eyes.

Fearne Cotton Launches SS15 Collection For Very

I was recently invited to Fearne Cottons latest catwalk show at One Marylebone, to showcase her new Spring Summer 2015 collection for Very.

The theme was Circus, and every little detail lived up to its theme. The invitation was a video (of course!) of a cockney ringmaster... there were fire jugglers, and even hula hooping gals all doing there thing while the models walked the glittering catwalk.
The hair was styled in cute micky mouse top buns, sandals were worn with sparkly ankle socks, and boots, had an air of ziggy stardust with glitter platforms and heals.

I was sat on the FROW opposite some of Fearnes friends - Gok Wan, Amanda Byram, Kye Sones, who had all turned out in force to support there pal.  Fearnes new husband Jesse Wood was there too cheering on his lady, and had bought along some of the wood clan- step mum Jo Wood, sister Leah and new step mum Sally Humphreys. His daughter lola even came dressed as a clown which was super cute! Other celebrities in attendance included the Mcfly wifes (Giovanna Fletcher, Izzy Judd and Georgia Horsley) the made in chelsea stars, and legendary fashion journalist Hilary Alexander.

Which brings me nicely onto the clothes. A gorgeous black and ivory striped fun fur coat kicked off the collection, layered over some sexy black undies. Fur is being is being tipped (excuse the pun) to be huge for SS15 with New York and London fashion weeks being awash with clipped, coloured, striped and conversational furs from Tommy Hilfiger and J Mendel. The fact that designers are show casing fur for spring proves its an important staple, and I'm sure it will become a festival must have for next season.
A berry coloured culotte jumpsuit caught my eye, I do love a culotte, and I'm adding this jumpsuit hybrid to my summer must have list. A jacquard ivory full skirt and beaded tee was feminine but layered over the black cami and styled with the ankle boots added edge.
And a beautiful 50's inspired twosie cemented that co-ords are here to stay for at least another season.

The collection was playful and feminine with modern retro shapes such as 50's full skirts and 70's culottes, but it still kept an air of tomboy-ishness which I feel en-captures Fearne's dressed down approach to fashion and covered key shapes which any fashionista would be proud of.

This collection launches in January and is sure to beat the post christmas blues. .. (Hurry up January, I need that fur coat now!)
